When a restaurant drops the 'Happy Birthday' ball

You plan a birthday dinner at a restaurant and call before arriving to make sure they have it down.

“I’ll be sure to tell the server, and I’m writing it in our notes,” the host says.

You have your dinner, and no one at the restaurant acknowledges the birthday in any way. No candle in the dessert, no “Happy birthday,” nothing.

This is…

a) A major service fail.

b) A miscue but no big deal.

c) Not worth mentioning. Restaurants are struggling, and no one needs a candle in their dessert.
